Winter marks FED’s fourth season of our inaugural year, closing the loop of our annual editorial arc and pulling us through deep, dark, and moody months toward spring. Darcy Reenis aka D:RC has been here since FED’s beginning, setting the mood for each season both aurally and visually with seasonal mixes and graphics.
On the back end, Darcy’s been a regular sounding board, idea-generator, and support for what has been, true to my usual form, a much bigger project and effort than I even began to imagine when I cooked up the FED concept.
The potential disconnect between theory and practice astounds me every time, and Darcy has a much better handle on practice than I ever will. His two-feet-on-the-groundedness has made this collaboration especially gratifying. Every time I fly inevitably off into the stratosphere, untethered, it’s been such a revelation to look down before I’m past the point of no return to find Darcy ready to throw a rope my way. His ready and reliable tether anchors me in this project and makes it possible to manifest theoretical concept as the publication you now read. It’s also a metaphor for our mission.
Via FED’s mission to serve up aesthetic and literal nourishment, online dinner party style, we aim to tether you to bounty and beauty—both when you need it most and also in your very best moments, when an extra special garnish can make them even richer.
I thank goodness for tethers thrown my way—they help me be and do me—and with that spirit of gratitude and appreciation, here’s a rope for you. D:RC’s got you with a FED Winter Mix. So, be and do you, beautiful.
Big love, Ashley
D:RC’s FED Winter 2025 Mix
Each new FED season calls for a fresh mix, but this time I wanted to shift gears. Instead of my usual upbeat melodic drum & bass, I'm bringing you something more fitting for the winter months.
Clocking in at around 140 bpm, this collection of beats remains bass-heavy, but with a sparser, more contemplative mood. Expect deep, spacey dub-infused tracks alongside rugged, 808-driven hip-hop instrumentals. Moody synth melodies and plaintive vocal chops floating on top of skip-pattern drum breaks. Perfect for background listening during downtime or your morning walk. Find the full tracklist below and support the artists!
Wishing you a prosperous 2025! —Darcy
